Job Overview
The Warehouse Operations Manager will oversee comprehensive warehouse, inventory, logistics, reverse logistics, and fleet activities ensuring safe material handling, precise inventory control, timely dispatch, operational efficiency, and adherence to corporate SOPs, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) standards, and relevant statutory laws.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise full-spectrum warehouse functions including inbound receiving, unloading, weighing, segregation, quality checks, Goods Receipt Notes, barcoding, putting away stock, storage, picking, packing, loading, and dispatch operations.
- Confirm the quality and quantity accuracy of received materials and report any discrepancies promptly to stakeholders.
- Maintain appropriate packaging, labeling, storage protocols, product safety, and ensure traceability of materials throughout the warehouse.
- Utilize Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) or ERP platforms to keep accurate and up-to-date inventory records.
- Conduct regular cycle counts, physical stock verifications, and periodic stock audits to detect and resolve discrepancies, damages, shortages, or surplus stock.
- Optimize warehouse space use and manage material locations effectively.
- Manage handling, segregation, and storage of electronic waste, lithium-ion batteries, electrical/electronic goods, and recyclable materials, ensuring compliance with safety and legal guidelines.
- Promote and enforce 5S methodology, housekeeping standards, safe material handling, and continuous operational improvements.
- Oversee daily fleet and transportation management including route planning to optimize vehicle usage, capacity, delivery schedules, and turnaround time.
- Liaise with transporters and vendors for timely dispatch and vehicle placement; monitor vehicle utilization, document compliance, and transportation expenses.
- Run reverse logistics processes covering collection, transportation, sorting, and disposition of returns, rejects, or recyclable items, improving logistics turnaround time.
- Plan manpower deployment, supervise and mentor warehouse teams, coordinate with cross-functional departments, and manage vendor relationships including manpower agencies and transport partners.
- Ensure availability and upkeep of material handling equipment (MHE), including weighing scales, scanners, printers, racks, and docks; coordinate preventive and emergency maintenance to reduce downtime.
- Prepare and present daily, weekly, and monthly MIS reports highlighting KPIs such as inventory accuracy, turnaround times, productivity metrics, transportation costs, damage/loss incidents, and EHS compliance.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 5 to 8 years’ experience in warehouse, logistics, or supply chain operations with at least 2 years in a managerial or in-charge role.
- Proven expertise in fleet and transportation management, route optimization, and reverse logistics, preferably in manufacturing, recycling, e-commerce, retail, or large-scale warehousing.
- Experience handling electronic products, electrical equipment, e-waste, and lithium-ion batteries is advantageous.
Required Skills
- In-depth knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software.
- Competency in warehouse and inventory management practices.
- Strong fleet and transport management capabilities including route planning and cost optimization.
- Understanding of reverse logistics and e-commerce warehouse operations.
- Comprehensive grasp of EHS compliance, statutory regulations, and 5S/Lean warehouse principles.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and MIS reporting.
- Effective team leadership, vendor management, and stakeholder communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving aptitude.
