Job description

Position Overview

The Warehouse Manager at DHL Global Forwarding, based in Robinhood Road, Dublin 12, is tasked with overseeing the daily operations of the warehouse. This includes managing the handling, storage, and movement of high-value equipment while leading a team of seven to achieve operational excellence, ensure inventory accuracy, and maintain compliance with health and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and inspire an on-site warehouse team to foster a culture of high performance.
  • Manage all inbound and outbound warehouse operations efficiently.
  • Promote best practices in warehouse activities to motivate team members and achieve business objectives.
  • Provide mentoring and upskill team members to encourage professional development.
  • Apply company people management policies consistently for employee growth and retention.
  • Serve as the primary customer liaison to maintain strong relationships and uphold service standards.
  • Handle disciplinary matters in cooperation with Human Resources.
  • Track performance metrics, identify areas needing improvement, and implement necessary corrective measures.
  • Manage staff attendance records, conduct return-to-work interviews, and report absenteeism issues to HR.
  • Conduct Training Needs Analysis and maintain up-to-date training plans and certification compliance for all team members.
  • Create and manage shift schedules, ensuring adequate coverage during holidays and absences through collaboration with customers.
  • Conduct annual and interim reviews, set targets, and provide ongoing feedback for employees.
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards and maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Address operational irregularities and customer complaints with effective solutions.
  • Oversee stock ordering, control, and maintenance of warehouse supplies and equipment.
  • Identify operational improvements and refine work procedures as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures and internal processes.
  • Support customer and quality audits effectively.
  • Ensure team compliance with health, safety, and security protocols, escalating breaches promptly.
  • Participate actively in risk assessments and contribute to safe systems development.
  • Promote adherence to the company's Safety-First policy without exception.
  • Attend required meetings related to warehouse operations.
  • Ensure compliance with revenue, international trade, and data protection laws, along with company policies on health, safety, quality, environment, and human resources.
  • Support environmental initiatives and implement processes adhering to Good Distribution Practice (GDP) standards for the Life Science sector as needed.

Qualifications and Experience

  • At least 5 years of experience in people management or leadership, with proven abilities in performance and absences management and team motivation.
  • Strong continuous improvement mindset and experience driving procedural changes.
  • Ability to work independently and make well-informed decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships at all organizational levels.
  • Commercially minded with a strong results orientation and great attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Robust administrative capabilities.
  • Fluent English language skills, both written and spoken.

Desired Qualifications

A qualification in Logistics or International Business is preferred but not mandatory.

Working Conditions

The role operates Monday to Thursday from 08:00 to 16:30, and Friday from 08:00 to 15:30.
