Warehouse Assistant - Fresh & Chilled Operations

Role Overview

The Warehouse Assistant will support daily warehouse operations focusing on fresh and chilled products. This role involves tasks such as receiving, sorting, and placing items appropriately within the warehouse, alongside maintaining general cleanup duties. The assistant will ensure order accuracy and adherence to safety and quality checks.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out daily warehouse duties including inbound activities like receiving, sorting, and storing goods.
• Manage outbound processes such as picking, packing, and releasing customer orders precisely from pick lists.
• Handle material movements and maintain cleanliness of work areas.
• Accept deliveries of fresh produce at inbound docks and verify quality, quantity, and expiry dates of goods.
• Conduct daily expiry checks prior to picking operations to ensure product freshness.
• Organize items into designated storage locations as indicated by the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
• Execute packing procedures according to standard operating protocols.
• Carry out additional warehouse-related tasks as needed.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Secondary school completion minimum; qualifications like Nitec in Supply Chain or related fields are preferred.
• Preferably have at least 3 months of experience in warehouse operations, specifically involving fresh goods or supply chain roles.
• Physically capable of working in cold and frozen warehouse environments.
• Able to safely carry loads up to 15 kilograms.
• Willing to work shifts on a five-day schedule that may include weekends.
• Good familiarity with logistics and e-commerce sectors.
• Possession of a WSQ Certified Forklift License is advantageous.
• Holding a WSQ Food Safety Course Level 1 certification is beneficial.
• Experience operating a reach truck and forklift licensure will be considered a plus.
