Atwal Tiling is based in Wollert, Victoria, and is currently looking to hire a skilled Wall and Floor Tiler to enhance their workforce.

Position Overview

This is a full-time position offering an annual remuneration package ranging from $80,000 to $82,000, commensurate with experience, along with superannuation benefits. The workplace is located in Lindisfarne, Wollert, Victoria.

Key Responsibilities

• Examine detailed building plans and specifications to fully understand the project requirements for tiling.
• Accurately measure and mark surfaces to ensure proper tile layout and precise fitting.
• Prepare walls and floors by removing existing tiles, grout, and adhesive material.
• Patch any holes or cracks to create a smooth, clean surface for the new tile installation.
• Evenly apply adhesive to surfaces utilizing correct tools and techniques.
• Carefully place and align tiles according to the layout plan, making sure they are level and evenly spaced.
• Use tile-cutting tools to shape tiles accurately to fit edges, corners, and around obstructions such as pipes and fixtures.
• Employ spacers as needed to maintain consistent gaps and ensure a neat finish.
• Fill joints with appropriate grout, selecting the suitable color and type for the job, and remove any excess to keep surfaces clean.
• Once grout has cured, clean tiled surfaces thoroughly without damaging grout lines.
• Apply waterproofing treatments as required, especially in wet areas like kitchens and bathrooms.
• Perform specific floor laying tasks including granolithic, terrazzo, and cement compositions.
• Create intricate mosaic patterns with colored tiles based on design specifications.
• Continuously monitor workmanship quality to ensure compliance with project plans and industry standards.
• Advise clients on tile selection, design options, and maintenance best practices.
• Provide ongoing care instructions and repair services to uphold the installation’s durability and appearance.

Candidate Requirements

• At least one year of practical experience in both wall and floor tiling within a professional setting.
• Demonstrated expertise working with diverse tile materials such as ceramic, porcelain, stone, mosaic, clay, slate, marble, and glass on interior and exterior surfaces.
• Experience performing complex decorative tile finishes.
• Proficiency in interpreting architectural drawings and specifications.
• Competence using tiling tools including tile cutters, trowels, and leveling instruments.
• Thorough knowledge of surface preparation, adhesive and grout application, and precision cutting techniques.
• Understanding waterproofing processes and relevant building codes and safety standards.
• Ability to perform tasks independently.
• Availability of at least two professional referees for verification.
