Overview
The Waiter/Waitress plays a vital role in providing outstanding, personalized food and beverage service, aiming to create unforgettable dining experiences for each guest. This role upholds the standards, values, and brand image of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts by consistently demonstrating professionalism, refined product knowledge, and genuine hospitality.
Primary Responsibilities
- Warmly greet and escort guests to their tables, delivering attentive and courteous service throughout their meal.
- Provide detailed presentations of the menu, daily specials, chef recommendations, and seasonal items, including information on ingredients, preparation, dietary needs, and allergy considerations.
- Develop strong rapport with guests by anticipating needs and tailoring service discreetly to individual preferences.
- Handle guest questions, requests, and feedback effectively, resolving issues promptly and escalating when necessary.
- Accurately record food and beverage orders via the hotel's POS system, clearly communicating any dietary restrictions and special instructions to kitchen and bar teams.
- Deliver dishes and drinks with precision, following established service standards ensuring quality presentation and timely service.
- Exhibit strong expertise in menu items and confidently suggest food, wine pairings, cocktails, spirits, and soft drinks to enhance the guest experience.
- Employ fine dining service skills including multi-course serving, table upkeep, silver service, and tableside presentations.
- Continuously gauge guest satisfaction during meals and proactively address any service needs.
- Maintain impeccable table settings and dining ambiance by ensuring cutlery, crockery, glassware, linens, and decor meet presentation standards.
- Efficiently clear tables, reset spots, and manage mise en place between seating.
- Perform opening and closing duties such as setting up stations, replenishing supplies, polishing equipment, and ensuring cleanliness of service areas.
- Accurately prepare guest bills, process cash and electronic transactions in line with hotel policies.
- Collaborate effectively with kitchen and front-of-house teams to provide smooth service and high guest satisfaction.
- Assist with banquet services, private dining, room service, and special events as required.
- Contribute positively to team efforts, supporting colleagues especially during peak service times.
- Promote specials, premium food and beverage options, and hotel facilities through professional upselling techniques aimed at revenue generation.
- Comply with all food safety, hygiene, health, sanitation, and safety standards at all times.
- Maintain high standards of personal grooming, professional attire, and presentation.
- Follow all company policies, environmental practices, and operational procedures.
- Demonstrate the company’s "Count on Me!" service culture by being responsive, respectful, and dedicated to exceptional experiences for guests and coworkers.
- Undertake additional duties as assigned by Food & Beverage Manager or hotel management to support operational effectiveness.
Qualifications and Experience
- Completion of high school or equivalent secondary education.
- Possession of or willingness to obtain food safety and hygiene certification.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English; knowledge of Arabic is advantageous.
- Previous experience in waiter/waitress roles or food & beverage service within hotels, resorts, restaurants, or similar hospitality environments.
- Preferred experience in upscale, luxury, fine-dining, international hotel settings, or high-volume restaurants.
- Familiarity with POS systems and guest payment procedures.
- Advantageous experience with fine dining service techniques, wine and beverage service, tableside service, and formal dining protocols.
