Overview

Arctic Engines is seeking native or highly proficient speakers of various Indian languages to collaborate on AI training voice data projects. This freelance, project-based position involves evaluating AI-generated voice clips for naturalness and authenticity to help improve conversational AI systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Carefully listen to short synthetic speech samples in one or more assigned languages.
• Assess whether voices sound like genuine native speakers by identifying subtle issues such as accent inaccuracies, unnatural pauses, rigid phrasing, or unclear audio.
• Apply consistent scoring using a standardized rubric shared across the evaluation team.
• Provide concise, specific feedback when marking samples as problematic or unacceptable.
• Participate in periodic team calibration sessions to ensure uniformity in evaluations.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Native or fluent command of at least one of the listed Indian languages including but not limited to Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Punjabi, Indian English, Urdu, and others.
• Strong auditory discrimination skills to detect robotic tone, mispronunciations, or unnatural speech patterns.
• Ability to focus on repetitive, detail-oriented listening tasks over extended durations.
• Reliable high-speed internet access, a quiet environment, and headphone use are necessary.

Additional Preferences

• Prior experience in audio quality control, voice-over work, linguistics, or language instruction is advantageous but not mandatory.

Hiring Procedure

• Initial application screening.
• Evaluation task involving sample scoring aligned with the provided rubric.
• Offer issuance and onboarding process including calibration session with quality control lead.

Compensation and Terms

This remote freelance position offers hourly pay with performers consistently meeting deadlines and quality expectations earning between INR 10,000 and 20,000 per month.
