Visual Effects Producer

About the Role

Urban Post Production is looking for a seasoned Visual Effects (VFX) Producer to oversee the entire lifecycle of VFX projects, from the initial breakdown of scripts to the final product delivery. This hybrid role combines remote and on-site work at our Toronto location, with preference given to candidates residing in the Greater Toronto Area.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop script breakdowns and prepare detailed VFX bids, budgets, and production schedules.
• Monitor project expenditures, forecasts, change orders, and critical delivery milestones.
• Lead and manage VFX production teams, including internal staff, artists, and external vendors.
• Serve as a primary contact for producers, post supervisors, directors, and clients.
• Supervise the turnover of VFX deliverables such as EDLs, XMLs, handles, plates, and reference materials to ensure seamless collaboration among Editorial, Conform, and VFX teams.
• Collaborate with Picture, Colour, and Sound departments to guarantee punctual final delivery.
• Identify opportunities to enhance pipeline efficiency and introduce automation and AI-assisted workflows where suitable.
• Ensure proper consideration of intellectual property rights, performer likeness permissions, and data usage, especially when applying AI-based tools.

Candidate Profile

• At least five years’ experience as a VFX Producer with a proven track record of managing projects from turnover to delivery.
• In-depth familiarity with the full VFX pipeline, including compositing, computer graphics, effects, and final output processes.
• Demonstrated expertise in bidding, budgeting, scheduling, cost monitoring, and managing vendors within the VFX realm.
• Proficiency in production tracking tools such as ShotGrid or Flow Production Tracking, as well as Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace.
• Strong communication, negotiation, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Knowledge or experience with emerging AI-supportive VFX technologies like Nuke CopyCat, ComfyUI, ControlNet, Runway, and FLUX is advantageous.
• Preference for candidates located in the Greater Toronto Area due to the hybrid work setup.
