Line Operator

Position Overview

The Line Operator is responsible for setting up, managing, and adjusting production machines to guarantee safe and efficient operations that meet client standards. The role involves understanding the assigned equipment thoroughly and quickly resolving minor mechanical stoppages.

Shift Options

• Day Shift: Monday to Friday from 5:00 AM to 3:15 PM
• Afternoon Shift: Monday to Friday from 3:00 PM to 1:15 AM

Responsibilities

• Prepare and assemble production lines and related equipment
• Perform equipment calibration and manage parts changeovers
• Inspect equipment and workstation conditions before production begins
• Operate production machinery and oversee line output
• Identify and resolve minor mechanical problems promptly
• Conduct quality checks aligned with food safety protocols
• Complete all required paperwork including pre-operation checks and daily productivity logs
• Adjust machines to rectify any quality-related issues
• Maintain cleanliness and order in the assigned work area
• Carry out sanitary cleaning procedures after operations
• Collaborate with material handlers to coordinate raw materials, packaging, and finished goods
• Report incidents and assist in accident or near-miss investigations

Qualifications

• Completion of high school education
• Previous mechanical experience considered an asset
• At least one year of experience operating machines in a manufacturing setting
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Working Conditions and Potential Hazards

• Mandatory use of personal protective equipment including safety footwear, glasses, bump caps, and company uniform on the plant floor and warehouse areas
• Hygiene PPE such as hair nets and beard/moustache nets when applicable
• Areas with forklift traffic
• Variable temperature environments with humidity, heat, and cold exposure
• High noise levels with hearing protection available on request
• Wet floor conditions and potential slip hazards
• Exposure to food-related odors
• Manual handling of heavy products up to 50 lbs
• Fast-paced work environment requiring adaptability and alertness
