Job description
Role Overview
The Video Content Producer plays a crucial role in bringing KAUST's narratives to life during post-production by transforming raw footage into polished, brand-consistent video content that showcases the University's research, people, and mission across various digital and institutional platforms. This position requires a blend of sharp editorial insight and technical proficiency in editing, color grading, and motion graphics.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze production briefs and actively participate in briefing meetings with stakeholders.
- Contribute to the planning phase by developing storyboards, editorial frameworks, mood boards, and creative references.
- Locate and integrate archival and licensed media assets as needed.
- Collaborate with production teams regarding shoot logistics, technical specs, and footage handover.
- Edit diverse video content such as documentaries, interviews, promotional materials, research communications, and social media clips.
- Enhance videos with transitions, motion graphics, visual effects, and 2D animations.
- Conduct professional color correction and grading to ensure visual quality.
- Mix and master audio components including music, voice-overs, dialogues, and ambient sounds.
- Prepare final video outputs optimized for web, social media, YouTube, LED displays, and other platforms.
- Manage several editing projects concurrently, ensuring quality and timely deliveries.
- Oversee video projects from concept inception through to final delivery, maintaining communication with stakeholders on requirements and schedules.
- Provide creative advice and constructive critique regarding video content.
- Maintain project timelines and proactively address potential delivery or resourcing challenges.
- Organize and upload production assets on schedule, applying accurate metadata, tags, and naming conventions.
- Keep project files, footage, and finished assets well-organized within servers and Digital Asset Management (DAM) systems.
- Monitor production progress using tools like Asana, track tasks, edit notes, comments, and deliverables.
- Ensure maintenance of editing workstations and software, addressing technical or licensing issues if needed.
- Participate actively in creative planning sessions, contributing editorial and motion graphic concepts.
- Stay informed of the latest video editing and post-production trends, techniques, and technologies.
- Commit wholeheartedly to enhancing the editorial quality and visual appeal of final video productions.
Qualifications & Experience
- Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Film-making, Media Production, or closely related fields.
- Additional certifications or training in color grading, motion graphics, or post-production workflows preferred.
- At least 5 years of professional video editing experience within a large organization or creative agency.
- A compelling portfolio showcasing wide editorial range and superior post-production skills.
- Proficient with Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve.
- Experienced in Adobe After Effects, including 2D animation and typographic sequence design.
- Capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.
- Experience in video production for institutions, corporate entities, or higher education sectors is advantageous.
- Familiarity with 3D animation tools like Cinema 4D or Blender is a plus.
- Knowledge of Avid Media Composer is desirable.
- Experience collaborating with or directing camera operators on-location is beneficial.
Technical Proficiencies
- Expert-level skills in Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve.
- Strong capabilities in Adobe After Effects.
- Comprehensive understanding of colour science, grading workflows, and LUT management.
- Competence in audio mixing and sound design techniques.
- Knowledgeable about video and audio formats, codecs, and multi-platform delivery standards.
- Experience using Digital Asset Management systems and familiarity with metadata standards.
- Proficient in project management software like Asana or similar platforms.
- High IT literacy with both Windows and macOS operating systems.
Additional Information
- Applicants must provide a portfolio or showreel displaying their previous video production work.
- The job may require working outside normal office hours due to production schedules, with overtime compensation offered.
