Job description

Role Overview

This position involves managing the deployment, customization, and upkeep of enterprise-level tax software using Vertex, with a focus on seamless integration across Finance, ERP, Billing, and Revenue systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the rollout and ongoing improvements of Vertex tax solutions within Finance and Revenue platforms.
  • Configure essential Vertex (O Series) features such as tax regulations, jurisdictional rules, tax rates, and exemption criteria.
  • Assist in developing and sustaining integrations between Vertex and ERP, Billing, and related upstream/downstream systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams—including Finance, Tax, and Engineering—to gather requirements and ensure effective solution delivery.
  • Validate accuracy of tax-related calculations, diagnose issues, and correct inconsistencies in data.
  • Support activities related to data mappings, processing transaction flows, and completing reconciliation procedures.
  • Participate actively in testing phases, deployment, and post-launch support tasks.
  • Create and maintain documentation covering system configurations, integration processes, and support manuals.
  • Adhere to established engineering best practices, coding protocols, and compliance standards.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Over 5 years of experience with Vertex or comparable tax system implementations and support.
  • Fundamental knowledge of indirect tax frameworks such as Sales & Use Tax, VAT, and GST.
  • Practical experience configuring Vertex components, including rules, tax rates, jurisdictions, and exemptions.
  • Experience with integration technologies, such as APIs (REST, SOAP) or middleware tools like MuleSoft, Boomi, and Informatica.
  • Understanding of financial processes including Quote-to-Cash and Record-to-Report.
  • Familiar with data structures and formats including JSON and XML, and basic data transformation principles.
  • Strong analytical capabilities coupled with problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working within Agile development methodologies and using version control systems like Git.
  • Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance Systems, or related fields.

Additional Preferred Expertise

  • Background in ERP, billing, or revenue system environments.
  • Familiarity with SaaS platforms or subscription-based business models.
  • Basic knowledge of financial compliance and audit standards.
  • Motivation to expand expertise in tax systems and enterprise-level integrations.
