Van Driver (Eastern Region) - Sales & Distribution

Overview

MTN Uganda is seeking a skilled Van Driver to provide safe, dependable, and professional transportation services for company staff, equipment, and passengers during field operations and official activities in the Eastern Region. This position reports to the Manager – Regional Sales, with one vacancy open.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure the safe transportation of MTN Uganda employees, authorized passengers, materials, and equipment while adhering to traffic laws, company policies, and defensive driving techniques.
• Perform daily checks on the vehicle to maintain cleanliness and mechanical soundness; promptly report faults, damage, or safety issues.
• Support regional field operations including activations, customer engagements, events, and respond to urgent transport needs as required.
• Maintain detailed and accurate records such as vehicle logbooks, fuel, mileage, and service documentation; protect company vehicles and assigned assets.
• Uphold professional conduct, provide courteous customer service, comply with health, safety, security, and environmental standards, and perform additional duties assigned by management.

Educational and Experience Requirements

• Minimum education: Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or equivalent.
• Must possess a valid driving license suitable for passenger vans/minibuses and have at least three years of professional driving experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in operating passenger vehicles that carry 15 or more passengers, with a clean driving record and strong understanding of defensive driving and road safety practices.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the Eastern Uganda region, including roads, towns, and rural routes, with a willingness to travel extensively and work flexible hours.
• Proficient in communicating effectively in at least two local languages, preferably Lusoga and Luganda; strong interpersonal and customer service skills required.
• Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge complemented by familiarity with smartphone applications such as Google Maps and WhatsApp for coordination.
• Physically and mentally fit; demonstrate integrity, confidentiality, professionalism, and a customer-focused approach.
