About the Role and Company
UtiliQuest is dedicated to supporting utility operators across America by preventing damages to underground infrastructure. As a Utility Locator, you will be trained in safety procedures and locating techniques to find and mark underground utility lines, contributing to safer excavation and construction projects. You'll learn to operate specialized equipment, work alongside experienced locators, and use digital tools to document underground utilities accurately.
Responsibilities
- Acquire knowledge of utility locating methods, safety standards, and equipment use.
- Gain understanding of local utility networks and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with veteran Utility Locators to identify and mark underground utilities.
- Use utility locating devices and digital mapping systems to record findings.
- Perform work outdoors in various weather conditions, including after hours and emergency situations.
- Drive and maintain company vehicles responsibly, following all safety guidelines.
- Attend classroom and practical training sessions, completing all required education.
- Follow company policies on punctuality, attendance, and safe driving.
- Conduct manhole entries using assigned safety equipment when required.
- Regularly handle 3-5 pounds of electronic tools and lift objects up to 50 pounds or more with aids.
- Maintain effective communication by hearing and speaking clearly during work activities.
- Be flexible with work schedules, including evenings, weekends, and on-call rotations.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Authorized to work in the United States for this employer.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Valid non-provisional state driver's license with a clean motor vehicle record.
- Physical ability to perform work alone in remote locations, operate vehicles, and conduct tasks requiring fine motor skills, bending, stooping, standing, walking, lifting up to 55 pounds, and occasional use of portable ladders and confined space work.
Compensation
The pay range for this position is $20.00 to $22.00 per hour.
