About the Role

USIC is seeking motivated individuals with a passion for outdoor independent work to join as Utility Locators in Albany, GA. This full-time position involves providing accurate underground utility location services—covering telecommunications, electric, gas, water, and sewer networks. Employees work mostly outdoors using company vehicles and advanced technology to ensure safe and reliable infrastructure marking.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Safely and accurately identify and locate underground utilities including telecommunications, electric power, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer lines.
  • Conduct thorough searches in assigned areas, marking locations clearly, completing necessary documentation, and photographing the marked utilities.

Work Schedule

This daytime role requires availability to meet a 48-hour turnaround time for many locates. Working after holidays, some weekends, overtime, and on-call shifts (including nights and weekends) is expected based on business demands.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Comfortable working outdoors in diverse weather conditions; prior outdoor experience is advantageous.
  • Technologically proficient to use company-provided devices and software.
  • Willing to work overtime, weekends, and be available for on-call shifts as required.
  • Must successfully pass a drug screening as this is a safety-sensitive position.
  • Hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Physically capable of work in confined spaces, including walking, bending, and lifting up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to distinguish colors used in marking wiring and underground utilities.
  • Skills to read, comprehend, and utilize locate tickets, maps, and technical prints accurately.
  • Effective communication abilities to interact with colleagues, clients, contractors, and property owners.

Compensation

Hourly wage of $20.00.
