Role Overview

The Utilities Specialist is tasked with ensuring the reliable, safe, and efficient functioning of company utility systems and environmental energy services. This role requires active monitoring, maintenance coordination, regulatory compliance, and collaboration with various stakeholders to minimize downtime and support continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor utility system performance and availability consistently.
• Coordinate maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs, especially on critical environmental equipment such as inline TOC analysers.
• Investigate and resolve operational utility issues, implementing corrective measures.
• Keep detailed records of inspections, maintenance, outages, and service requests.
• Analyze utility usage data to identify efficiency improvements and cost-saving opportunities.
• Ensure adherence to environmental, health, safety, and regulatory standards.
• Liaise with contractors, vendors, and utility providers to schedule works and address service problems.
• Assist in capital projects involving planning, testing, and commissioning of infrastructure.
• Review and verify the accuracy of utility invoices, service contracts, and performance metrics.
• Prepare operational reports, documentation, and standard procedures.
• Participate in emergency response efforts and provide after-hours support as necessary.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance utility system reliability and performance.

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Facilities or Construction Management, or a related discipline; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in utility operations support, facilities management, plant operations, or infrastructure upkeep.
• Familiarity with utility systems including potable water treatment, steam, HVAC, compressed air, and wastewater.
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance programs and asset management.
• Understanding relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and computerized maintenance management or ERP systems.
