Role Overview

We are seeking a Financial Lines Underwriting Manager to steer the New Zealand Financial Lines portfolio and lead the underwriting team within Commercial Markets. This leadership position focuses on generating profitable growth, refining underwriting strategy, enhancing market presence, and achieving excellent outcomes for customers, brokers, and Zurich.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the growth and performance management of the Financial Lines portfolio in New Zealand.
• Implement underwriting strategies and go-to-market initiatives across the business.
• Develop and nurture strong relationships with brokers, customers, and important stakeholders.
• Support retention of existing business and drive new business acquisition through active engagement with the market.
• Coach, mentor, and retain underwriting talent, fostering ongoing learning and development.
• Continuously monitor portfolio results and meet key financial and operational goals.

• Extensive experience underwriting Financial Lines in insurance or brokerage contexts.
• Proven leadership skills in managing and developing effective teams.
• Deep technical knowledge of Financial Lines products and portfolio management.
• Success in achieving profitable growth and implementing business strategies.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management capabilities.
• Commercial awareness with the ability to make data-driven decisions to enhance performance.
