About the Role
Join our Boulder-area team as an Underground Utility Locator and embark on a fulfilling career that offers the freedom of outdoor work and independence. With a pay rate of $22.50 per hour, this position requires individuals who are responsible, detail-oriented, and safety-conscious. We provide training for candidates dedicated to performing diligent and precise utility location work.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a company vehicle from your home directly to various job sites responding to routine tickets, emergency call-outs, and utility relocations.
- Utilize computer-based utility maps and specialized underground detection equipment to locate utilities such as electric, gas, telephone, and communication lines.
- Mark utilities on site using paint and flags, and clearly communicate relevant information to excavation crews and other stakeholders.
- Participate in after-hours emergency response on a rotational basis as required.

Essential Qualifications and Attitudes
- Possess basic computer proficiency; preferred experience includes approximately one year of computer skills.
- Hold a valid driver’s license applicable to employment location.
- Ability to work overtime when necessary to fulfill all job responsibilities.
- Willingness and ability to comply with a drug-free workplace policy, including passing a pre-employment drug test.
- Self-directed and motivated with strong communication skills to coordinate with supervisors and clients promptly.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Drive extensively, ranging from 50 up to over 300 miles daily within assigned geographic regions.
- Enter and exit vehicles repeatedly, up to 50 times each day.
- Must be physically capable of walking long distances over uneven, outdoor terrain and in all weather conditions.
- Be able to sit for extended periods during vehicle operation.
- Lift and maneuver heavy loads between 50 and 150 pounds.
- Work primarily outdoors, exposed to various weather elements.
Educational and Licensing Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license is mandatory.
Additional Information

- Work schedule includes 10-hour shifts Monday through Friday with on-call duties and potential overtime.
- The role involves minimal interpersonal contact due to outdoor setting, with COVID-19 considerations in place.
