Position Summary
The Trimmer's primary responsibility is to carefully trim, finish, inspect, and prepare molded rubber, urethane, or related manufactured parts following stringent safety and quality standards. This role ensures that surplus material and imperfections are removed so products adhere to set specifications and meet customer delivery criteria. Additionally, the role involves maintaining accurate production records and supporting a safe and organized workspace.
Key Responsibilities
- Trim, cut, grind, sand, and eliminate excess material and flash from molded items.
- Operate knives, scissors, grinders, buffers, trimming machines, and other authorized hand or power tools safely.
- Adhere to work orders, production plans, drawings, sample guidelines, and instructions.
- Conduct visual examinations to detect defects, damages, dimension inaccuracies, or other quality issues.
- Utilize measurement tools and gauges as needed to verify product specifications.
- Report defective or non-compliant products promptly to leads or quality staff.
- Count, label, package, and prepare completed items for subsequent production stages or shipment.
- Accurately fill production documentation such as work orders and travel sheets.
- Meet or exceed established standards for production quantity, quality, and efficiency.
- Follow lockout/tagout protocols and report hazards or equipment issues immediately.
- Return tools, materials, and finished products to designated storage.
- Maintain cleanliness and organizational standards such as 5S and TPM throughout shifts.
- Consistently wear required personal protective equipment and uphold safety requirements.
- Assist in the training and orientation of new team members as requested.
- Perform opening, closing, and support duties during production as needed.
Candidate Qualifications
- Previous experience in manufacturing, trimming, finishing, or industrial production preferred.
- Experience handling molded rubber, urethane, plastic, or similar materials is advantageous.
- Competent in operating cutting tools, grinders, trimming devices, and other power or hand tools safely.
- Basic understanding of production workflows and quality inspection criteria.
- Knowledge of workplace safety practices, including WHMIS and personal protective equipment use.
- Ability to follow detailed work procedures, process specifications, and job instructions accurately.
- Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Skill in performing repetitive tasks while maintaining high quality and precision.
- Strong focus on detail, teamwork, and dependability.
