Role Overview
The Trials Specialist is a pivotal global role reporting to the Senior Trials Specialist and is based in Mount Maunganui, Bay of Plenty. This position is a fixed-term contract for 14 months focused on the strategic planning, coordination, and management of field trials. The goal is to produce insightful data supporting innovation and improvements in Zespri’s new kiwifruit cultivars and grower outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Designing, executing, and overseeing successful field trial programs.
- Gathering, maintaining, and analyzing trial data to derive actionable insights.
- Collaborating effectively with growers, research experts, and internal teams to implement trials.
- Ensuring safety and adherence to protocols throughout trial activities.
- Generating reports and presenting trial results to diverse audiences.
- Identifying enhancements to improve trial methodology, data integrity, and efficiency.
- Contributing to the assessment of new technologies, products, and cultivation methods.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate holds a background in horticulture, agriculture, plant science, biological sciences, or related fields and has proven experience managing field activities or research projects. Key attributes include:
- Expertise in planning and supporting field trials or similar research initiatives.
- Proficient skills in data collection, analysis, and technical reporting.
- Strong organizational abilities to juggle various priorities effectively.
- Capability to build professional relationships with stakeholders like growers and researchers.
- Excellent communication skills to interpret complex information into usable insights.
- A proactive, inquisitive mindset geared towards continuous improvement.
- Previous knowledge of horticultural, agricultural, or production environments is advantageous.
