Job description

Role summary

The Transformer Testing Engineer will handle factory, site, pre-commissioning, and commissioning testing for power and distribution transformers. The main objective is to confirm that the equipment meets IEC, IEEE, and IS standards, along with project specifications and client expectations.

Key responsibilities

  • Carry out site testing and commissioning activities for transformers.
  • Examine and validate OEM, FAT, and SAT test reports.
  • Work closely with construction, protection, and commissioning teams to keep activities aligned.
  • Draft test reports, inspection checklists, and as-built records.
  • Follow HSE rules and safety practices throughout testing work.
  • Liaise with clients and consultants during inspections, reviews, and approval stages.

Qualification and experience

  • A BE, BTech, or Diploma in Electrical Engineering is required.
  • Applicants should usually have 5 to 10 years of experience in transformer testing and commissioning.
  • Practical exposure to EHV, HV, and MV transformers is needed.
  • Strong working knowledge of IEC 60076 and IEEE transformer standards is expected.
  • Experience on substation projects, especially GIS and AIS environments, is preferred.
