Job description

Job Overview

The Traffic Control Agent ensures the safe routing and management of vehicular and pedestrian traffic around construction sites. Working under the supervision of a Field Supervisor or Operations Manager, the Agent establishes and maintains traffic patterns to protect workers and minimize hazards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate proficiency in all traffic control agent duties.
  • Set up, maintain, and remove temporary work zones with appropriate signs and cones, adhering to WATCM guidelines.
  • Load and unload traffic control equipment from company vehicles at job locations.
  • Complete and submit all required documentation before leaving each job site.
  • Wear and maintain proper personal protective equipment following company protocols.
  • Keep company vehicles clean and report any safety or maintenance issues promptly.
  • Coordinate daily operations with site foremen.
  • Confirm job sites and start times as scheduled via the company app.
  • Drive company vehicles safely when commuting, if applicable.
  • Review and abide by the safety manual and employee handbook.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Candidate Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Valid driver's license preferred; mandatory if using a company vehicle for commuting; clean driving record desired.
  • Own a smartphone with internet access to receive schedules and communicate effectively.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work in varied weather conditions including heat, cold, and rain.
  • Capable of standing throughout entire shifts with required arm and hand movement.
  • Limited opportunity for breaks during shifts.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Capable of fulfilling all flagging responsibilities safely.
  • Possess reliable transportation to and from worksites; carpooling with crew members is optional and voluntary.
  • Successful completion of the Traffic Control Agent certification and any additional required training.

Additional Information

Non-compliance with the standards and duties may result in reassignment to a lower position with reduced compensation.
