About the Role
The Trades Assistant (Facilities) will contribute to the general upkeep and maintenance of a variety of facilities across the Mareeba Shire, including depots and aerodromes. This permanent, full-time role involves supporting skilled tradespeople in their repair and maintenance duties, performing mowing, rubbish collection, and other physically demanding tasks within a hot and humid climate. The role demands a high level of physical fitness to safely operate machinery and equipment within the prescribed load limits.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with routine maintenance and repair work at multiple sites throughout Mareeba Shire.
- Support tradesperson activities related to facilities upkeep.
- Carry out mowing, rubbish collection, and other general maintenance duties.
- Perform physically demanding tasks with attention to safety and cleanliness standards.
Candidate Profile
The successful applicant will be comfortable working in a small team and capable of following instructions with limited supervision. Good communication skills, both oral and written, are essential.
- Fundamental knowledge of construction and maintenance techniques, including problem identification and troubleshooting.
- Ability to select and handle appropriate tools and materials safely and effectively.
- Proficient in applying safe work practices such as manual handling, operation of power tools, and adherence to workplace health and safety policies.
- Current Queensland C class driver’s licence and a valid Queensland Construction Industry White Card are mandatory.

Compensation and Benefits
- Permanent full-time employment with a salary at LGEA Level 3, $59,981 per annum
- Mareeba Allowance of $2,080 annually
