Role Overview

The Tour Manager position is a full-time, contract role situated onsite in Machakos. This role entails the management of tour operations and safaris within Kenya and East Africa, including developing and coordinating itineraries, handling bookings, and assuring seamless scheduling of transport, lodging, and activities. The Tour Manager is the primary liaison for clients, providing pre-trip information and maintaining high standards of customer service throughout the tour. Collaboration with guides, drivers, hotels, and partners is essential to resolve issues and ensure safety while adhering to company guidelines. Additional responsibilities include record keeping, report creation, and contributing innovative ideas to enhance tour offerings and guest satisfaction.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Expertise in tour operations and itinerary development, with strong coordination skills for transport, accommodation, and activities.
  • Excellent customer service capabilities and client engagement, including effective communication, problem-solving, and a professional, approachable attitude.
  • Proficient organizational and time management skills for managing multiple tours and logistics simultaneously.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Kenyan and East African tourism sites, wildlife, culture, and relevant travel regulations.
  • Willingness and ability to work onsite in Machakos Town and travel occasionally to various tour destinations.
  • Competency in basic computer tools such as email, word processing, and spreadsheets along with familiarity with booking or reservation software.
  • Fluent English language skills; proficiency in Swahili or other regional languages is a plus.
  • Prior experience in travel, hospitality, or tour operations is highly advantageous.
  • A diploma or degree in Tourism Management, Hospitality, Business, or related disciplines preferred.
