Job Overview
The Tool Maker plays a crucial role in manufacturing, handling, and maintaining various production fixtures such as welding fixtures, forming dies, pipe bending dies, and structural support beams. This position demands proficiency in both traditional and advanced machining techniques, interpretation of engineering blueprints, execution of precise measurements, drafting inspection reports, and implementing effective problem-solving strategies to uphold manufacturing excellence and efficiency.
Primary Responsibilities
- Create and assemble tools, dies, molds, jigs, and fixtures following detailed engineering drawings and specifications.
- Operate a range of conventional CNC machinery including lathes, milling equipment, grinders, and electrical discharge machines (EDM).
- Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot production tooling to reduce downtime and ensure smooth operations.
- Analyze and interpret engineering drawings and CAD models accurately.
- Utilize precision measuring instruments like micrometers, calipers, and height gauges for quality assessment.
- Perform rigorous tool testing and validations aligned with design documentation.
- Collaborate closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to enhance tool efficiency and productivity.
- Keep meticulous records of tooling maintenance, repairs, and modifications.
- Adhere strictly to safety norms, quality standards, and company policies.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or technical certification in Tool & Die Making, Machinist Trade, Mechanical Engineering, or related disciplines.
- A minimum of three years’ experience in tool making, die making, or precision machining (experience requirement can be flexible).
- Comprehensive knowledge of machining procedures and tooling materials.
- Competency in reading engineering drawings and understanding GD&T specifications.
- Proficiency with precision measurement tools.
- Basic familiarity with CNC programming and CAD/CAM software is advantageous.

- Engagements primarily within manufacturing and shop floor settings.
- Physical demands include prolonged standing and lifting of tooling components.
- Potential need for shift work depending on production schedules.
- Exposure to Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
