Role Overview

The tyre retreading technician will be responsible for overseeing the entire tyre retreading production cycle, ensuring retreaded tyres meet the highest quality standards from initial casing inspection to final product checks.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full tyre retreading process.
• Examine used tyre casings to assess retreading viability and segregate unsuitable casings.
• Operate tyre buffing machines to remove worn tread precisely while preserving casing integrity.
• Maintain strict adherence to buffing dimensions including radius, width, diameter, profile, and surface texture.
• Detect and repair casing damages through appropriate techniques such as skiving and filling.
• Perform thorough inspections for defects including air pockets, wrinkles, misalignment, and gaps before curing.
• Handle and monitor curing machinery like autoclaves, cure chambers, or presses according to plant specifications.

Candidate Requirements

• Technical Certificate, Diploma, or equivalent in Tyre Technology, Automotive or Mechanical Engineering, or related fields.
• Three to five years of practical experience in tyre retreading production.
• Preferably experienced in commercial tyre retreading plants with emphasis on truck, bus, OTR or passenger vehicle tyres.
• Skilled in operating and overseeing tyre retreading and curing equipment.
• Strong expertise in examining tyre casings and ensuring retreading suitability.
• Comprehensive knowledge of quality control processes, defect detection, and resolving technical issues.
