Techno Functional Business Analyst - Banking API Integration & SQL

Role Summary

We are looking for an experienced Techno-Functional Business Analyst with strong expertise in the banking domain and a solid background in APIs and database technologies. The successful candidate will act as a crucial link between business requirements and technical teams, ensuring smooth integration and data interchange across banking platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate effectively with business stakeholders to collect and analyze both functional and technical requirements for banking applications.
• Facilitate workshops to extract detailed functional needs pertaining to various banking products and systems.
• Create clear user stories encompassing functional and technical specifications.
• Analyze and document existing banking workflows across areas such as Financial Crime, credit, payments, retail and corporate banking; identify pain points and opportunities for automation.
• Coordinate API implementation efforts and integration with other banking systems; validate payloads, endpoints, and ensure security compliance.
• Execute SQL queries to validate data integrity, support data reconciliation, and generate reports.
• Support data migration and ETL processes ensuring accuracy and consistency across systems.
• Design data flow diagrams and mapping documents for clarity and audit purposes.
• Manage product backlog using Agile tools such as JIRA and Confluence; prioritize tasks and coordinate sprint activities.
• Provide support for system integration testing (SIT), user acceptance testing (UAT), and regression testing focusing on API and database functions.
• Utilize API testing tools like Postman and Swagger for validation and quality assurance.
• Serve as liaison between business users and technical teams, offering technical insights during design and architectural discussions.
• Ensure all processes comply with banking regulations and security guidelines.
• Maintain thorough documentation including API specifications, data models, and integration workflows.

Requirements

• Over 8 years of professional IT experience with a strong focus on banking and IT-enabled project delivery.
• Demonstrated experience in at least one end-to-end large scale IT system implementation within a banking environment.
• Proficiency with web technologies and project management methodologies including Agile and Waterfall.
• In-depth knowledge of banking domains such as Financial Crime (AMLA), customer management, retail and corporate banking, payments, and lending.
• Strong understanding of API technologies including REST and SOAP; hands-on experience with API testing tools like Postman.
• Expertise in SQL and relational databases such as Oracle and MS SQL Server.
• Familiarity with data mapping, ETL workflows, and data governance principles.
• Experience utilizing Agile tools including JIRA and Confluence for backlog and project management.
• Exceptional communication skills, capable of managing diverse stakeholders effectively.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance or related field.
• Relevant certifications such as CBAP, Agile, or API-related certifications preferred.
