Role Summary

The Technical Writer will be embedded within product teams owning documentation for key Camunda platform areas. Working closely alongside engineers, product managers, and designers, the role ensures documentation is precise, clear, and aligned with the evolving product. This hands-on position requires becoming a subject matter expert, directly influencing the developer experience by creating impactful content. You’ll also contribute to maintaining and improving the documentation infrastructure for seamless operation.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and take full ownership of documentation in one or multiple product domains, acting as the embedded technical writer within product teams.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and design teams to remain updated on product roadmaps and developments for accurate and timely documentation.
• Develop expert-level knowledge of assigned product areas by engaging directly with Camunda technologies to produce practical, developer-focused documentation.
• Lead documentation creation from initial planning through publication—writing, reviewing, and updating materials that enable developer success with Camunda solutions.
• Champion the role of documentation as vital to user experience, providing user perspectives in product discussions and influencing design and implementation decisions when feasible.
• Continuously enhance documentation’s structure, clarity, and completeness leveraging user data, feedback, and personal assessments.
• Work collectively with fellow writers and documentation teams to share best practices and advance documentation tooling and standards.
• Support and improve the technical infrastructure behind Camunda's documentation site, including build tools, deployment pipelines, and configuration of the Docusaurus platform for dependable publishing.

Candidate Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in technical writing with a robust portfolio focused on developer-centric content such as user manuals, installation and API guides, tutorials, and technical articles.
• Practical experience using and understanding Java, Kubernetes, Helm, Docker, and similar technologies, preferably including familiarity with Camunda 8 or equivalent products.
• Experience documenting on-premise software installations as well as SaaS and other software environments.
• Skill in adapting content for diverse audiences including software engineers, developers, business analysts, and process owners.
• Proficient in docs-as-code methodologies and frameworks like Docusaurus; comfortable working with AI tools, Git, and Markdown within developer-centric processes.
• Readiness and willingness to actively use Camunda products to inform documentation.

Additional Preferred Skills

• Experience managing and configuring documentation site infrastructure and deployment workflows, especially using Docusaurus.
• Background in software development or familiarity with one or more programming languages.
• Confidence in evolving and advocating for a unified technical writing style guide across cross-functional teams.

Compensation & Benefits

Camunda offers transparent and competitive compensation based on location, spanning from standard to major market rates. Total annual cash compensation (base plus variable target) ranges as follows:

• United States: $102,300 to $164,900
• United Kingdom: £64,200 to £105,600
• Singapore: S$127,000 to S$190,500
• Canada: C$108,600 to C$178,600

Employees outside these markets will be engaged via a global employer partner with personalized compensation calculators provided post-interview. Equity participation is available through a Virtual Stock Option Plan (VSOP).
