Technical Researcher/Sourcer

About the Role

We are a boutique retained search firm dedicated to partnering with high-growth, venture-backed startups to tackle their most challenging hiring needs. Unlike volume recruitment agencies, we focus on a selective caseload and apply executive-search precision to every assignment. Our searches mainly cover Staff to Principal level individual contributors and Director to VP leadership roles across technical functions such as Engineering, Product Management, Design, and Analytics.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive market mapping and talent research to chart the talent landscape for each search, including mapping team structures at leading startups and established companies, identifying talent clusters, and providing a thorough market overview that transforms difficult searches into manageable ones.
• Generate insightful talent intelligence by analyzing headcount trends, funding events, organizational changes, and competitor activities to guide search strategy and client decisions.
• Execute strategic sourcing by developing high-quality candidate pipelines for senior individual contributor and leadership positions using tools like LinkedIn Recruiter, GitHub, Crunchbase, and specialized niche channels, emphasizing precision over volume.
• Collaborate on search strategy around positioning, target lists, and outreach to support a rigorous, retained executive search process.
• Ensure data accuracy and currency by maintaining detailed market maps and talent lists within Google Sheets, keeping all research actionable and up-to-date.

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience in sourcing or research within the engineering or technology sectors, preferably with executive search or deeply technical roles.
• Expert proficiency with LinkedIn Recruiter, capable of crafting highly precise searches to identify ideal candidates.
• A passion for thorough research, comfortable investing hours within a specific niche to produce detailed, defensible market maps and identify top talent.
• Familiarity with startup ecosystems, understanding where top talent is concentrated and the dynamics of fast-moving, ambiguous environments.
• Strong investigative skills that extend beyond common platforms, utilizing sources such as GitHub, patents, publications, conferences, and team pages to uncover candidates who may otherwise be missed.

Compensation and Work Conditions

This is a full-time position offering a remote work setup. The hourly compensation can be up to 8 USD per hour, depending on experience.
