Role Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Data Migration Project Manager to spearhead extensive data migration and modernisation initiatives for prominent clients in the telecommunications sector. This role requires the combination of robust programme management capabilities, deep technical knowledge of data environments, and solid telecom industry experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee comprehensive data migration and modernisation projects, transitioning legacy systems to Snowflake and other cloud platforms.
- Manage all facets of projects including scope, timelines, budgets, resource allocation, risk assessment, dependencies, and governance structures.
- Guide critical migration activities such as data discovery, mapping, transformation, validation, reconciliation, and final cutover.
- Collaborate closely with Data Architects, Engineers, business units, and technology partners to ensure alignment and success.
- Deliver regular programme status reports and strategic advice to senior leadership and executive stakeholders.
- Lead both onshore and offshore teams across multiple concurrent delivery streams.
- Champion automation and AI-driven methodologies to speed up migration processes.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Approximately 12 to 15 years in IT with significant expertise in Data Migration and Modernisation projects.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with Snowflake, Teradata, and Oracle database environments.
- Track record managing migrations from Teradata or Oracle to Snowflake or similar cloud platforms.
- Strong foundation in Data Warehousing concepts, SQL, ETL/ELT processes, Data Quality assurance, and Data Governance frameworks.
- Substantial experience in the telecommunications domain.
- Proficient programme management skills combined with excellent stakeholder engagement and communication capabilities.
- Expertise in overseeing large, distributed teams and handling complex enterprise-scale initiatives.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- Experience with Databricks, dbt, and data visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau.
- Certifications related to Snowflake, Agile methodologies, SAFe, or PMP are advantageous.
