About the Role
Google is committed to creating inclusive opportunities through products that impact users globally. As a Technical Program Manager (TPM) within the Google Pay Data Platform (GDP) team, you will lead multifaceted projects from initiation to delivery, leveraging your technical skills and leadership. You will collaborate with stakeholders to define project scopes, mitigate risks, manage schedules, and communicate progress effectively to diverse audiences including executives and engineering teams.
GDP is central to Google Payments' mission of providing a secure and easy-to-use payments ecosystem. It focuses on developing robust, compliant, and user-friendly data infrastructures and applications that power analytics, insights, experiments, targeting, and AI/ML models across various Google Pay products such as India, Ready to Pay (RTP), and Wallet.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate complex, cross-functional initiatives related to the expansion of enterprise data warehouse (EDW) and self-service developer platform capabilities within the Google Pay Data Platform.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, product management, data analytics, and other partners to establish program roadmaps, prioritize tasks, and define milestones.
- Provide clear visibility into program status, risks, and key performance indicators to stakeholders and leadership.
- Identify, assess, and manage program risks and dependencies, actively removing blockers to ensure timely delivery of high-quality data products.
- Champion compliance, privacy, and data governance practices across all Payments domain data sets, including users, transactions, and merchants.
- Develop and refine program management processes aimed at increasing efficiency and accelerating execution velocity of teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in technical program management or engineering management with a proven history of handling cross-functional software development programs focusing on data platforms, data warehousing, or distributed systems.
- Experience managing complex multi-team projects for a minimum of 5 years is highly preferred.
- Hands-on knowledge of large-scale data infrastructure, data warehousing technologies like BigQuery and Spanner, and data pipeline architectures.
- Familiarity with financial technology, payment processing systems, or regulatory requirements including compliance and privacy standards.
- Strong technical proficiency enabling participation in architectural and design discussions with engineering teams.
- Ability to operate effectively amid ambiguity and rapidly changing priorities.
- Excellent communication skills with demonstrated success in stakeholder management across geographically distributed teams.
