Technical Product Manager

Role Overview

This position focuses on managing the content platform and its growing ecosystem. The company is investing significantly in foundational aspects including identity, access control, developer tools, data systems, and infrastructure. The successful candidate will work at the intersection where these layers converge, addressing complex and ambiguous challenges that are yet to be fully defined, thus playing a key role in shaping the platform underpinning future product development for years ahead.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage content services utilized by all interfaces, including learner and admin surfaces, as well as forthcoming developments, encompassing APIs, delivery pathways such as CDN and video streams, and file and asset storage systems.
• Define and maintain the structural contract governing content storage, versioning, and delivery to facilitate reuse and customized assembly per client; focusing on schema and interface design ensuring clarity, stability, and safe modifiability for collaborating teams.
• Take ownership of multi-tenant separation, ensuring segregation of customer-specific content and branding, including deciding and owning the tenancy model early on.
• Oversee access controls, entitlements, and data residency policies determining who can access what information, where data is physically stored, and commitments from a contractual standpoint.
• Ensure optimal platform performance and tenant-specific cost efficiency, as this impacts overall system speed and expense.
• Lead the platform segment of an ongoing migration from an existing content tool, coordinating the sequencing of this transition carefully to maintain operational continuity and impact.
• Address non-functional requirements related to security and compliance that commonly delay deals, linking product management to revenue outcomes.

Candidate Profile

• Proven experience with content management platforms such as CMS, DAM, headless content systems, or large-scale structured content frameworks is highly preferred.
• Background in managing platform or infrastructure-related products with success measured by enabling other teams' delivery rather than direct user-facing features.
• Strong technical acumen to evaluate architecture proposals critically, distinguish well-researched from fluent responses, and admit knowledge boundaries honestly.
• Capability to collaborate effectively with senior engineers, infrastructure, and security experts, including questioning estimates and tenancy designs; prior engineering experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
• A mindset focused on interfaces between systems, appreciating contract guarantees, reversibility of decisions, and prudent risk management.
• Skill in sequencing work to modernize a legacy-earning platform, emphasizing order and timing over visionary ambition.
• Excellent written communication to document decisions, trade-offs, and rationale intelligibly for both technical and executive audiences.
• Additional beneficial expertise in artificial intelligence and personalization or infrastructure strengthens candidacy but is not required.

What This Role Is Not

• This is not a position for someone seeking to act primarily as a project manager; the engineering team is strong and requires decisions and clarity more than coordination.
• You will not be responsible for the authoring and editorial experience itself but will work closely with the responsible colleague and define the boundaries between roles.
• The role does not entail managing a full platform rewrite unless tied directly to customer outcomes; foundational work is funded only with clear customer benefit.
• If you require all surrounding foundational decisions resolved before your arrival, this role might not suit you.
