Job description
About the Role
This position is responsible for operating and managing packaging machinery, conducting autonomous machine maintenance, ensuring quality standards at the source, and supporting the Asset Care team with maintenance duties within the supply chain and manufacturing functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform machine startup, operation, shutdown, and monitor performance based on Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Follow environment, health, and safety protocols rigorously.
- Accurately collect and update data using prescribed reporting platforms.
- Maintain exceptional hygiene standards by cleaning equipment and surrounding areas.
- Deliver products adhering to defined quality criteria and implement quality checks at the source.
- Operate equipment following design specifications to ensure product compliance.
- Embed quality and food safety principles into all workflows to meet safety requirements.
- Maintain safe, proper operation and regular maintenance of all machinery under personal control.
- Perform look-listen-feel equipment inspections and initiate work requests as needed based on condition monitoring.
Performance Indicators
- Meet or exceed target numbers of cases produced within quality standards.
- Achieve planned production volumes.
- Maintain machinery hygiene and workspace cleanliness with a 5S score above 90%.
- Produce targeted case numbers during first hour of equipment startup and after changeovers.
- Adhere to changeover time targets as per procedures.
- Minimize machine downtime according to maturity level guidelines.
- Complete 100% of preventive maintenance tasks on schedule.
- Fully comply with Standard Inspection Checklists.
- Manage material usage aligned with plans.
- Keep bottle breakage, water usage, and beer loss within Annual Operating Plan targets.
- Reduce reworks and product rejects.
- Ensure 100% compliance with personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
- Complete root cause analyses (5 Whys) in each shift.
- Maintain bottle cleanliness at all times.
Experience and Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably mechanical engineering.
- Additional certification in relevant engineering disciplines is beneficial.
- Minimum of one year experience or proven competence in operations, maintenance, process control, and performance measurement within brewery, beverage, or food manufacturing sectors.
