About the Role
Netflix, a leading global entertainment service with over 300 million paid subscribers across 190 countries, offers diverse TV series, films, and games in multiple languages and genres through easy, on-demand access. The Product Merchandising team focuses on delivering intuitive and regionally-relevant merchandising strategies to simplify content discovery for members.
We are establishing a Regional Merchandising unit within APAC and seeking a seasoned merchandising operations professional to lead its technical execution function. This position is integral to the APAC Product Merchandising team and involves translating country-specific and regional merchandising strategies into user-facing curated collections and browsing experiences on the Netflix app. A comprehensive understanding of Netflix's content, user interface, and merchandising methodologies is essential to help the platform scale effectively.
Primary Responsibilities
- Collaborate operationally with the APAC Product Merchandising team to convert regional and local merchandising strategies into engaging content discovery experiences.
- Implement and configure regional merchandising tactics including basic experimentation like A/B testing; oversee quality assurance and troubleshoot discrepancies.
- Maintain alignment between merchandising operations and strategic objectives across markets.
- Utilize in-depth knowledge of licensed and produced Netflix content to structure the catalog efficiently.
- Configure and apply rules for collections and pages, partnering with local and regional merchandising teams to develop new eligibility criteria.
- Ensure timely delivery of merchandising initiatives by coordinating stakeholders, tracking progress, and adhering to operational timelines.
- Monitor the activation health of launches and escalate issues promptly.
Qualifications and Skills
- In-depth understanding of movies, TV shows, or gaming, with the ability to identify thematic connections between titles.
- Experience in metadata classification is highly advantageous.
- Strong editorial judgment and creativity to craft compelling content collections that resonate with audiences.
- Analytical skills for content evaluation and using data to inform recommendations.
- Basic knowledge of information architecture, metadata, and taxonomy principles.
- Proficiency in translating merchandising and business strategies into tactical implementations and deliverables.
- Proven track record managing large, complex projects with precision and high execution standards.
- Ability to develop scalable frameworks and processes to ensure consistent, efficient program delivery.
- Comfortable balancing detailed hands-on tasks while maintaining a strategic overview.
- Experience managing multiple simultaneous projects in a fast-changing environment.
- Advanced proficiency with enterprise software and self-service tools for large-scale configuration and publishing.
- Ability to learn new technologies and digital product tools rapidly.
- Experience analyzing large datasets to derive actionable insights.
- Excellent communication skills for presenting complex ideas clearly to partners.
- Strong judgment in engaging and collaborating with appropriate stakeholders.
- Adept in building relationships across diverse cultures, geographies, and time zones to influence cross-functional teams and provide actionable recommendations.
- Confidently represent teams or organizational capabilities in cross-functional meetings.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in content merchandising operations, catalog curation, program management, or related disciplines.
- In-depth knowledge of entertainment industry trends specific to Korea, Japan, or India.
- Fluency in English, with proficiency in an additional APAC language preferred.
- Understanding of product development workflows.
- Experience in app-based environments is a strong advantage.
- Excellent organizational and project management capabilities.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage ambiguity.
- Use of both qualitative and quantitative methods to define and measure success.
- A keen curiosity for industry trends and innovation, constantly questioning and learning.
