Technical Director - Water Resources Engineer (Mining)

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee technical quality and review in water resources engineering across mining projects.
• Deliver top-tier consulting services covering conceptual modeling, hydraulics, engineering design, mine water and stormwater management, floodline studies, water conservation, demand management, and water balance assessments.
• Manage and guide diverse mining and water resource projects internationally, including environmental assessments and permitting and infrastructure design.
• Conduct climatic, hydrological, and hydraulic studies involving fieldwork, data collection, analysis, and modeling.
• Develop integrated water management plans and conceptual designs for water control structures.
• Model water balances to evaluate water management approaches and estimate parameters like demand, treatment, storage, and discharge.
• Design and cost water infrastructure such as channels, culverts, spillways, pumping systems, and containment ponds at multiple project phases.
• Perform dam break analyses, generate inundation maps, identify hazard zones, and classify dam risks concerning populations and environment.
• Assess dilution and assimilative capacity for effluent discharge in surface waters.
• Conduct Flood Risk Assessments and design Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems for land development.
• Contribute to projects addressing climate resilience, adaptation, including nature-based solutions.
• Lead multidisciplinary project teams ensuring timely, budget-compliant delivery adhering to safety and quality standards.
• Maintain agreed utilization targets, including possible travel within the UK, Europe, and internationally for site work.

Candidate Profile

• Possess a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, hydrology, or related disciplines; postgraduate qualifications preferred.
• Hold Chartered/Professional Engineer status or membership in a relevant professional organization.
• Demonstrate a proactive attitude towards delivering high-quality technical services.
• Experience building client relationships and contributing to business growth.
• Proven ability to lead and motivate high-performing teams.
• Successful track record in securing new work and managing project delivery effectively.
