Overview
We invite applications for a senior leadership role as Technical Director specializing in Theatre and Performance Flooring. This role commands global oversight of the technical function for a prestigious performance flooring manufacturer renowned worldwide, whose products serve top venues and events in over 100 countries.
The successful candidate will be a seasoned technical expert ready to lead engineering, product development, manufacturing collaboration, and technical support initiatives on landmark international projects. The role offers attractive remuneration including base salary, bonus, international travel opportunities, company vehicle, and benefits, with clear progression prospects.
Responsibilities
- Lead the company's global technical function spanning engineering, product development, manufacturing support, and technical customer support.
- Deliver expert technical advice throughout sales processes and project execution.
- Create and maintain technical specifications, engineering drawings, and installation procedures.
- Provide technical solutions, conduct site visits, and resolve issues for major international projects.
- Steer new product development and continuous improvement efforts.
- Collaborate closely with manufacturing to enhance quality, product performance, and production efficiency.
- Support sales by preparing technical presentations, quotations, and tender documentation.
- Mentor National Technical Managers and facilitate group-wide technical training.
- Play a direct leadership role on major overseas projects, requiring frequent international travel.
Candidate Profile
- Current or previous roles as Technical Director, Head of Technical, Senior Technical Manager, or similar.
- Extensive experience in theatre flooring, performance flooring, stage flooring, or related carpentry disciplines.
- Proficient in CAD and skilled in producing precise technical drawings.
- Demonstrated leadership in managing technical teams and overseeing product development and engineering projects.
- Strong knowledge of flooring, staging, or performance environment engineering and manufacturing.
- Prepared to undertake significant international travel commitments.
Compensation and Additional Information
The salary band ranges from £85,000 to £100,000, complemented by bonuses, company vehicle, and benefits, with on-target earnings between £105,000 and £120,000. The role is based in Wimbledon with a hybrid working model. Travel internationally is a core component of the position.
