Job description
Role Summary
The Technical Director specializing in Maya and Unreal Engine is a full-time, on-site position located at philm CGI’s Pune City studio. This role is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the technical workflows involved in 3D animation and real-time rendering. The individual will ensure efficient integration between Maya, Unreal Engine, and associated software by collaborating closely with artists, supervisors, and production teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and enhance workflows, tools, and scripting solutions to support high-quality content delivery.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot technical challenges related to assets and scenes, focusing on performance optimization.
- Lead the introduction and implementation of emerging technologies and best practices within the technical pipeline.
- Coordinate with project management teams to align technical tasks with production schedules.
- Mentor and guide technical artists to foster team development.
- Participate in research and development initiatives to drive innovation at the studio.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proven leadership abilities managing technical teams and promoting a collaborative studio environment.
- Experience in R&D to explore and incorporate new tools and workflows for Maya and Unreal Engine.
- Proficient in software development and scripting languages such as Python, C++, MEL, and Blueprints.
- Strong project management skills including task planning, effort estimation, and priority management to ensure timely deliveries.
- Expert-level knowledge of Maya and Unreal Engine pipelines, including tasks such as asset handling, rigging, animation support, scene optimization, and real-time rendering.
- Comprehensive understanding of CG production cycles encompassing modeling, texturing, lighting, effects, and compositing within a pipeline.
- Capability to resolve complex technical issues effectively, document solutions, and create technical standards.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills facilitating cross-departmental collaboration.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Animation, VFX, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Previous experience in a technical role within a similar field is mandatory.
