Technical Designer - Joinery

Overview

Tripod Global is looking to hire an experienced Technical Designer specialized in Joinery and Architectural Fitout to strengthen our Joinery Division. This role demands a deep expertise in creating detailed joinery shop drawings, architectural and interior detailing, and a thorough familiarity with joinery fabrication techniques to convert conceptual designs into precise technical drawings suitable for production and on-site implementation.

Primary Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive shop drawings based on BOQs, tender and design drawings, as well as project specifications.
• Create dimensionally accurate joinery shop drawings that specify materials, hardware, fixing methods, and finish details.
• Design detailed assembly and construction instructions facilitating efficient manufacturing and installation processes.
• Generate precise cutting lists tailored to production needs and prepare material take-offs as required.
• Conduct site surveys and integrate findings into drawing documentation ensuring alignment with practical conditions.
• Collaborate actively with designers, project managers, and production teams to align drawings with project constraints and manufacturing capacities.
• Assist site teams with technical clarifications, details, and adjustments to resolve challenges swiftly.
• Proactively identify and rectify design inconsistencies or potential technical issues to avoid any disruptions in production timelines.
• Ensure that all documentation, including drawings and revision logs, are meticulously organized and maintained.
• Guarantee compliance of drawings with project requirements, design standards, and industry norms related to joinery manufacturing.
• Work effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly with all stakeholders involved in the project lifecycle.

Qualifications and Skills

• Diploma in Interior Design, Architecture or Civil Engineering is preferred.
• Between 3 to 5 years of professional experience in retail fit-out and joinery, ideally within a production or joinery factory environment.
• Proficient in AutoCAD for preparing detailed technical drawings.
• Familiarity with 3D modelling software such as Creo or SolidWorks is advantageous.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for managing data.
• Comprehensive knowledge of joinery materials, hardware, and fabrication techniques.
