About the Role
The Technical Assistant will deliver specialized administrative and technical support to underwriting teams focusing on Treaty Reinsurance and related business segments. The role involves managing underwriting files end-to-end, overseeing data quality, compliance verification, coordinating with brokers and internal stakeholders to facilitate smooth underwriting workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Logging submissions for all lines of business and creating associated files.
- Supporting Canopius Shared Services in India by entering risk data into policy administration systems, assisting with procedures, system queries, and providing technical expertise.
- Accurately entering data on risks, endorsements, and declarations promptly as needed.
- Ensuring quality control, conducting audits, and resolving queries on data work performed by Shared Services.
- Generating regular and ad-hoc reports with commentary for Underwriting teams and management.
- Collaborating with Technical Assistants and Underwriting teams for efficient file and query handling.
- Fostering strong relationships with Underwriting teams through effective communication and service quality.
- Maintaining and revising procedures for Underwriting Operations to keep them current.
- Providing technical assistance to underwriters and colleagues across the business.
- Monitoring exception reports, following up within defined service levels.
- Achieving monthly Key Performance Indicators related to quality, timeliness, and service; proactively addressing any shortfalls with management.
- Supporting team members by covering duties during absences.
- Contributing as a Subject Matter Expert to change and transformation efforts and assisting IT, Change, or other teams.
- Driving continuous improvement by offering suggestions and aiding colleagues.
- Maintaining clear communication internally and with external stakeholders.
- Assisting oversight and processing of premium messages from Xchanging, including complex cases.
- Supporting regulatory and market reporting and monitoring tasks.
- Performing ad hoc duties as directed by management within Underwriting Operations.
Required Skills and Experience
- Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
- Practical experience in Treaty Reinsurance operations, underwriting support, technical accounting, or reinsurance administration.
- Sound knowledge of Treaty Reinsurance processes including treaty setups, renewals, endorsements, bordereaux, declarations, premium processing, closings, and documentation.
- Proactive problem-solving attitude.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for internal and external interactions.
- Highly motivated, cooperative team player able to take initiative.
- Good time management skills with ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Willingness to pursue Singapore College of Insurance examinations.
- Interest in developing a career within the London Market Insurance sector.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel and Outlook.
