Position Overview
This role is for a Tech Lead focused on the Android Core Product, situated in Saudi Arabia. It is a pivotal engineering position aimed at guiding the development of a rapidly expanding mobile application utilized by millions globally.
You will be responsible for leading end-to-end feature development, collaborating intimately with Product, Design, QA, and Engineering teams. The position demands hands-on technical leadership, product insight, user empathy, and a commitment to delivering high quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and deployment of major Android features from inception through release, working closely with cross-functional teams to delight users.
- Provide strong technical leadership and architectural guidance, influencing the future trajectory of the Android engineering team.
- Continuously monitor and enhance reliability metrics for essential product components while proactively mitigating technical risks.
- Collaborate effectively across Product, Design, Engineering, and QA to ensure technical solutions meet user expectations and align with product goals.
- Review code submissions, give constructive feedback, and uphold excellent engineering standards across the team.
- Take charge of resolving critical technical incidents promptly, ensuring swift and effective solutions.
- Manage feature rollouts and supply nightly builds to QA, guaranteeing comprehensive testing and superior product quality.
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years professional experience in software engineering, with substantial involvement in Android app development.
- Deep familiarity with Android architecture and a track record of delivering production-grade Android applications.
- Expertise in Kotlin and modern Android frameworks and tools including Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Jetpack Navigation, Dagger 2, Room, Jetpack Compose, as well as custom views utilizing Canvas and Paint APIs.
- Strong grasp of software architecture and design patterns such as MVVM and Clean Architecture; experienced with background services, music player integrations, Android animations, and JUnit testing.
- Capability to design and implement automated tests supporting app reliability and maintainability.
- Instinctive product design sensibility and empathy, enabling thoughtful technical and UX decisions that enhance user experience.
- Proactive attitude with the willingness to improve code quality and application beyond stated requirements.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills blended with a user-first problem-solving approach and eagerness for ongoing improvement through feedback.
- Bonus points for contributions to Android open-source projects or familiarity with iOS, Web, or Node.js platforms.
