Position Overview

This strategic commercial role within a fast-growing European payments company is focused on leading pricing strategy. The Pricing Lead is responsible for the entire lifecycle of pricing models—from design and development through testing and implementation—operating in a complex, high-transaction environment. The role provides extensive cross-functional exposure, intersecting Finance, Sales, Operations, Technology, and Product teams, and leverages market intelligence, financial data, supplier costs, and customer insights to craft pricing that balances margin protection with business growth. Building scalable pricing tools and processes to facilitate swift, commercially sound decisions across regions and units is a critical component.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead the creation, evolution, testing, and deployment of new pricing frameworks, models, and market deployment strategies.
  • Develop and maintain strong collaborations with Product, Sales, Finance, Accounting, Operations, and Technology departments to discover and execute pricing improvements.
  • Partner with Finance to integrate accurate cost inputs, financial metrics, and reconciliation procedures into pricing models.
  • Engage with Sales teams to incorporate market insights into pricing instruments, offerings, and commercial tactics.
  • Work alongside Accounting to ensure pricing strategies and reports accurately reflect revenues, margins, and profitability.
  • Keep updated and manage supplier pricing and external cost drivers actively.
  • Oversee costs related to card schemes and interchange, monitoring changes in industry and member communications.
  • Formulate pricing policies based on input costs, including standardized, tailored, and bundled customer offerings.
  • Create and manage pricing tools aimed at facilitating efficient and commercially effective sales decisions.
  • Set up and apply scalable margin management approaches, including monitoring profitability across regions and business sectors.
  • Lead repricing initiatives and continuous profitability reviews of existing clientele to maintain sustainable pricing.
  • Handle incentive and revenue-sharing agreements between various operating units and the broader organization.
  • Design sales incentive programs that align incentives with company objectives.
  • Use data analysis, competitive research, market intelligence, and financial insights to identify pricing opportunities and inform strategic direction.
  • Establish customer-focused and commercially viable pricing and finance support processes and procedures.
  • Lead team development, encouraging collaboration, knowledge exchange, and ongoing improvement.

Candidate Requirements

  • Extensive experience in commercial pricing, financial planning, management reporting, or similar strategic finance roles within high-volume complex businesses.
  • Solid understanding of payments pricing with preference for expertise in card payments, interchange fees, cross-border payments, or card schemes.
  • Demonstrated capability to engage at varying organizational levels with credibility among senior leaders and multiple departments.
  • Proven skill in translating data into actionable financial strategies addressing business and customer needs.
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical abilities with adaptability to regulatory, policy, and market changes impacting pricing strategies.
  • Experience delivering new processes, pricing frameworks, or commercial tools successfully.
  • Leadership experience with ability to foster alignment and drive cross-functional execution.
  • Comprehensive understanding of financial dynamics across diverse products, customers, and business models.
  • Ability to conduct detailed market, product, competitor, cost, and client research.
  • Excellent communication skills to clearly explain complex pricing concepts to non-specialist colleagues across Finance, Sales, Product, and other areas.
  • Highly collaborative, agile, adaptable with a proactive mindset towards learning, feedback, and sharing knowledge.
  • Proficient in computer applications including Microsoft Office; familiarity with Alteryx, Tableau, Macros, and SQL is advantageous.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with alternative European payment schemes like Girocard and similar localized solutions.
  • Experience in embedded payments or retail payments sectors.
  • Background in dynamic startup or scale-up environments.
  • Experience managing pricing across multiple countries or business units.
  • Knowledge of sales incentive programs, revenue-sharing arrangements, and margin optimization strategies.

Benefits and Work Environment

  • Competitive salary complemented by performance-related bonus potential.
  • Fully remote employment with a flexible international working culture.
  • Collaborative workplace grounded in trust, ownership, respect, and accountability.
  • Engagement with international experts within a broad European software ecosystem.
  • Opportunities for professional development through interaction with seasoned industry professionals.
  • Exposure to innovative payment technologies and complex business challenges across European markets.
  • A chance to influence and develop pricing capabilities in a growing organization.
  • Regular team activities, corporate celebrations, and opportunities for cross-border collaboration.
  • Equal opportunity employer focusing on skills, qualifications, and experience in hiring decisions.
