Job description
Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Talent Screener to join our team remotely. You will play a critical role in evaluating candidates efficiently and accurately based on established procedures and success profiles. This position operates Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM PST, with a salary range of $2,000 to $3,000 USD monthly, dependent on experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess all candidates passed by Talent Sourcers using company guidelines without additional pre-qualification before scheduling interviews.
- Independently review applicants from all other sources against knock-out criteria and predefined success profiles, advancing suitable candidates to screening interviews.
- Escalate uncertain or borderline cases to the assigned Recruiter instead of making unilateral decisions.
- Ensure that applicants from non-sourced channels receive a decision within three days of application submission and document outcomes in the applicant tracking system accordingly.
- Report recurring quality issues in sourced candidate handoffs to the Talent Acquisition Manager for early calibration.
- Conduct live video screening interviews using approved guides and scorecards to evaluate qualifications, competencies, work authorization, location feasibility, and salary expectations.
- Engage actively during interviews, posing impromptu questions to clarify vague or incomplete responses.
- Adjust communication style, speed, and terminology to effectively connect with candidates of varied backgrounds, from entry-level warehouse associates to senior technical professionals.
- Understand diverse US regional accents, workplace jargon, and industry-specific terms with clarity.
- Provide candidates with accurate information about the role, company, and recruitment process, escalating inquiries beyond approved talking points to assigned Recruiters.
- Strictly use approved, compliant language for sensitive topics like work authorization, relocation, and compensation, avoiding improvisation.
- Maintain consistent questioning across candidates for the same role and manage interviews within scheduled time frames.
- Assign candidates progressing beyond screening to the designated Recruiter.
- Ensure consistent scoring quality across high-volume reviews, mitigate fatigue effects, and flag irregularities to management.
- Record all candidate dispositions promptly and accurately in the applicant tracking system using established coding schemes.
- Uphold data hygiene by accurately maintaining screening stage data, eliminating duplicates, and completing mandatory fields.
- Preserve candidate records following applicable privacy and retention policies, including asynchronous entries and scoring results.
- Meet or exceed departmental performance expectations and perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Communications, or related fields, or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum of two years conducting candidate interviews and virtual screenings, including at least one year engaging with US candidates.
- Experience supporting US-based hiring teams remotely, with thorough understanding of US workplace culture, job titles, and employment standards across both hourly and professional roles.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Advanced spoken English communication skills allowing real-time, unscripted professional interactions with US candidates, at CEFR C1 level or higher.
- Proficient listening comprehension of diverse US regional accents, colloquial workplace language, and technical jargon, coupled with clear speech.
- Consistent application of written evaluation rubrics during high-volume screening, managing scoring fatigue and sequence effects.
- Sound judgment to distinguish clearly qualified candidates from borderline cases requiring recruiter input.
- Sharp interviewing insight to detect rehearsed or evasive replies and probe effectively without creating discomfort.
- Strong self-management abilities including diligent daily queue handling, ensuring timely clearance of pending applications prior to weekends.
- Trustworthy handling of confidential personal data complying with defined data protection policies.
- Comfortable adapting to a fast-paced, small-team setting that requires multitasking and diverse responsibilities.
