Overview
Johnson's Dry Cleaners, a division of Timpson Group Limited, is looking to welcome a skilled Tailor to its Harrogate location. If you have experience in retail or hospitality and are eager to start an engaging career in garment repairs and alterations, this full-time, permanent role offers an excellent opportunity to join a reputable high street service organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform a wide range of garment alterations including shortening and lengthening clothes.
- Adjust garment sizes by taking in or letting out fabric.
- Replace broken zippers and carry out related repair tasks.
- Shorten curtains as required by clients.
- Provide customer service, including discussing alteration needs and fittings in branches.
- Support Area Manager and shop branches with the alterations service.
- Complete a daily act of kindness for colleagues or customers as a part of the role.
Candidate Requirements
- Expertise in sewing and tailoring methods.
- Familiarity with different fabric types and garment structures.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Attention to detail to ensure precise modifications.
- Problem-solving skills for handling unexpected alteration challenges.
- Effective management of time and workload.
- Experience working with diverse garment styles.
- Background in retail or a similar alteration environment is preferred.
Work Conditions and Salary
The role requires working 40 hours across five days, including weekends, with overtime available once trained. Pay starts at £12.75 per hour, rising to £12.80 per hour post successful trial. Additionally, there are opportunities for uncapped weekly bonuses.
