Job description

About the Role

Wandelbots is creating NOVA, an innovative platform that democratizes industrial robot programming. The Simulation team develops cutting-edge technology to provide photorealistic digital twins of actual production environments, including pipelines converting real-world scanning data into 3D scenes via Gaussian Splatting and a browser-based streaming platform leveraging NVIDIA Omniverse and Isaac Sim. While these technologies currently function, they are not fully productized. Your task is to standardize internal operations and externalize these capabilities into packaged solutions for customers and partners.

The initial focus is establishing internal standards that replace bespoke environments with a unified, reproducible, and well-documented system that teams can operate independently. Subsequently, you will help transform these capabilities into externally deployable products with version control, stable interfaces, tenant isolation, diagnostics, update pathways, and comprehensive documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage GPU infrastructure for simulation workloads, ensuring efficient operation through NVIDIA GPU Operator, device plugins, driver updates, and GPU sharing methods like MIG or time slicing.
  • Collaborate with the infrastructure team to integrate simulation workloads into shared Kubernetes and cloud platforms.
  • Create declarative and reproducible deployments using Infrastructure as Code and GitOps, consolidating current tools and environments.
  • Manage CI/CD pipelines and container lifecycle particularly for CUDA- and NGC-based applications.
  • Design scheduling and autoscaling strategies for different workloads, including interactive streaming sessions requiring low latency and compute-intensive Gaussian Splatting tasks.
  • Establish reproducible workflows for the Gaussian Splatting pipeline, covering stages from data capture and training to OpenUSD asset creation.
  • Operate and enhance the Omniverse and Isaac Sim streaming platforms, managing session lifecycle, tenant separation, and Kit App streaming.
  • Standardize platform usage internally through self-service options, golden paths, templates, onboarding processes, and specimen documentation.
  • Prepare solutions for partner and customer environments by implementing packaged deployments, versioned releases, upgrade capabilities, and actionable diagnostics.
  • Support deployment scenarios across cloud, on-premises, and partner-managed infrastructures.
  • Implement observability solutions using metrics, logging, GPU telemetry, and proactive alerting systems.
  • Define and enforce simulation-specific security models, including ingress control, TURN and STUN for WebRTC, RBAC, secrets handling, SSO, and tenant boundary management.
  • Work closely with robotics, product, and platform teams to ensure solutions meet real-world development and customer use cases.

Candidate Profile

You should be passionate about not just developing features but understanding and shaping how complex systems are architected, deployed, and maintained.

  • Experience in platform engineering, infrastructure, site reliability engineering, DevOps, or systems software operations.
  • Proficient with Kubernetes including resource management, job scheduling, and troubleshooting distributed systems under stress.
  • Knowledgeable with Infrastructure as Code, GitOps, CI/CD methodologies, and capable of assessing tools tailored to problem domains.
  • Strong foundation in Linux ecosystems, container technologies, and networking principles.
  • Good Python skills for scripting automation, service development, and data processing pipelines.
  • Exposure to GPU workload management or a enthusiasm for working with GPU drivers, CUDA, and scheduling techniques.
  • Capability to architect solutions that empower other teams to independently use technology platforms.
  • Strong operational ownership mindset emphasizing documentation, diagnostics, maintainability, and reproducible systems.
  • Excellent command of English; proficiency in German is advantageous.

We prioritize a solid systems foundation, eagerness to learn new technologies, and interest in the domain over prior experience with every single tool or technology listed.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience transforming internal systems into customer-operable products.
  • Hands-on familiarity with NVIDIA Omniverse, Isaac Sim, Kit SDK, or OpenUSD.
  • Knowledge of Gaussian Splatting, NeRF, photogrammetry, or similar 3D reconstruction technologies.
  • Understanding of WebRTC, pixel streaming, or other real-time low-latency video solutions.
  • Programming skills in Python, Rust, or Go to contribute to infrastructure and services.
  • Experience with robotics or simulation platforms such as ROS 2 and sim-to-real workflows.
  • Exposure to multi-tenant platform management, air-gapped environments, or deployments with strict security and compliance needs.

Why Join Wandelbots?

  • Contribute to a groundbreaking robotics product that benefits society and industry worldwide.
  • Be part of a vibrant, international team where knowledge sharing and diverse perspectives are valued.
  • Work in a purpose-driven culture that embraces autonomy, creativity, empathy, and continuous improvement.
  • Enjoy up to 3 days of volunteer time annually to support causes you care about.
  • Benefit from professional growth opportunities including training and mental health support.
  • Receive perks such as complimentary meals, snacks, drinks, team events, 30 days’ vacation plus holiday breaks, and full paid leave if your child is ill.
