Job description

Role Overview

Join Wandelbots as a Simulation Engineer, where you will be instrumental in establishing the simulation framework that supports both customer projects and internal developments. Your main focus will be working with NVIDIA Omniverse, utilizing CAD data and kinematic techniques, alongside the Wandelbots NOVA Extension to create detailed, reliable, and production-ready simulation environments for industrial robotics applications.

Main Responsibilities

  • Construct detailed simulation scenes for industrial robotics using NVIDIA Omniverse and Isaac Sim.
  • Convert CAD files into clean, simulation-compatible assets and organize scene setups efficiently.
  • Prepare simulation settings that are robust, maintainable, and optimized for project utilization.
  • Apply kinematic modeling to grippers, fixtures, and production hardware to enable functional simulation behavior.
  • Create accurate simulation models to support virtual commissioning workflows.
  • Bridge the gap between virtual validation and actual deployment by ensuring simulations are practical and application-focused.
  • Incorporate the Wandelbots NOVA Extension to integrate their technology within client simulation projects.
  • Develop and refine Isaac Sim extensions and simulation tools to accelerate and scale project delivery.
  • Leverage AI-assisted modern tools to enhance engineering productivity and project execution efficiency.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Practical experience with NVIDIA Omniverse or Isaac Sim, or similar simulation platforms.
  • Strong CAD expertise and knowledge on preparing engineering data for simulations.
  • Familiarity with virtual commissioning and simulation use within industrial automation.
  • Capable of performing kinematic setups and building precise simulation models.
  • Basic understanding of OpenUSD and the challenges in sim-to-real transitions.
  • A methodical, solution-oriented, and practical approach to work.
  • Programming proficiency, especially in Python, plus experience with Git and collaborative workflows is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in German and English at B2 level or higher.
  • Willingness to regularly work onsite at customer locations and support commissioning tasks.

Preferred Profile

  • Enjoys direct collaboration with customers, software developers, and automation experts.
  • Motivated to move beyond experimentation and apply technologies in real production settings.
  • Interested in creating reusable simulation workflows rather than one-off setups.
  • Combines hands-on engineering skills with scalable tooling development and improvements.

Additional Information and Benefits

This role lies at the crossroads of simulation, robotics, and industrial software development. You will influence the creation of customer-ready simulation environments and contribute to real-world industrial projects as well as the Wandelbots NOVA ecosystem.

Wandelbots promotes impactful work on innovative robotics products, valuing cross-functional teamwork, knowledge sharing, and authentic company culture with an emphasis on feedback and appreciation.
