About the Role
As a System and Security Specialist at the Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand, you will play an essential role in safeguarding and managing the technology frameworks that uphold aviation safety and security. Positioned within the Digital Engineering team, you will help ensure a secure, reliable, and effective IT environment. Your duties will encompass handling cybersecurity threats, overseeing identity and access management, supporting enterprise systems, and ensuring software compliance. Through collaboration with cybersecurity experts, digital teams, vendors, and other stakeholders, you will help elevate security posture, enhance governance, and facilitate successful digital project delivery.
Core Responsibilities
- Monitor, identify, and respond to cybersecurity threats, incidents, and vulnerabilities in a timely manner.
- Enhance security controls and contribute to the organisation's wider risk management framework.
- Manage identity verification, access privileges, and permissions within enterprise-wide systems.
- Administer critical business applications and support secure system operations across the organisation.
- Oversee software license compliance, coordinate renewals, and maintain productive vendor relationships.
- Conduct audits focused on security, access rights, and compliance to bolster governance processes.
- Offer expert technical advice supporting digital transformation initiatives and organisational changes.
Your Background
- Proven experience working within complex enterprise IT environments.
- In-depth understanding of cybersecurity frameworks, principles, and threat management tactics.
- Specialised knowledge in identity and access management strategies and technological implementations.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Azure cloud services, Intune, and other modern cloud technologies.
- Understanding of software licensing rules alongside compliance and governance requirements.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to approach challenges with a risk-focused mindset.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of translating technical complexities into clear business language.
