Swimming Instructor

About the Role

The Swimming Instructor at Society Sport Center’s Academy in Doha is responsible for providing top-tier swimming lessons to both children and adults, accommodating all levels of skill and ability. The instructor ensures a safe, engaging, and structured learning environment aligned with a recognized learn-to-swim framework. This role not only focuses on the technical delivery of lessons but also supports the growth and commercial success of the Swim programme through member engagement and event involvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct individual and group swimming sessions tailored to various abilities and age groups.
• Create and implement progressive lesson plans based on swimmer capabilities and established swim teaching standards.
• Teach swimming techniques, water safety, and stroke development proficiently.
• Ensure all lessons are delivered safely and meet Society Academy's quality benchmarks.
• Monitor and evaluate swimmer progress, providing clear feedback to swimmers and their parents.
• Assess swimmers to guide appropriate placement and advancement within the programme.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, and skill levels for each participant.
• Oversee swimmer safety at all times during lessons and pool activities, enforcing pool rules rigorously.
• Support pool supervision duties and promptly report any equipment or safety concerns.
• Handle emergency procedures effectively in case of incidents.
• Promote the swimming programme to boost enrollment, retention, and participation through lessons, events, and holiday camps.
• Develop strong relationships with members and parents to foster retention and encourage referrals.
• Adhere to safeguarding policies protecting children and vulnerable adults.
• Exemplify professionalism aligned with Society’s premium brand standards.
• Collaborate closely with Academy staff for a seamless academy experience.
• Participate actively in training workshops and ongoing professional development in aquatic instruction.

Qualifications and Experience

• Certified swimming instructor with recognized qualifications (e.g., Swim England/ASA Level 2, STA Level 2, or equivalent).
• Lifeguard certification such as RLSS NPLQ plus First Aid/CPR certification are preferred.
• At least two years of experience teaching swimming to both children and adults, spanning diverse skill levels.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Previous experience in GCC or Qatar is advantageous; multilingual ability, especially Arabic, is a plus.
• Availability to work flexible hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and during holidays.
