About Corlann and the Role

Corlann – West Region offers community-focused, person-centered care for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, aiming to enable individuals to live full, valued lives integrated within their communities. Caislean Adult Services operates across Oranmore and Galway City, providing a spectrum of community-based supports including day services, residential care, respite, community outreach, family support, and multidisciplinary assistance. The goal is to foster valued social roles and friendships for those using the service.

These positions are permanent full-time roles within Caislean Adult Services. Staff may be assigned to residential, respite, day, or community-based settings. Initial placement will be in one area but may later change based on service needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide support across all daily living activities tailored to the individual’s abilities, promoting independence and skill development.
• Assist individuals in achieving personal goals and engaging in everyday community life through inclusive and innovative approaches.
• Deliver personal and intimate care, including meal preparation, household tasks, and physical well-being support.
• Collaborate with supervising personnel such as Social Care Workers, Staff Nurses, Team Leaders, or Managers depending on location.

Qualifications and Skills

• A sound general education background is required; holding a recognized qualification in intellectual disability care or FETAC Level 5/QQI Level 5 or higher is preferred.
• Must possess a valid, clean manual driving license suitable for Irish roads; obtaining a Class D1 license may be necessary, with support provided.
• Experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities, autism, or complex needs is advantageous though training will be provided.
• Essential skills include flexibility, teamwork, patience, a good sense of humor, fluency in spoken and written English, and competent IT capabilities.

Working Conditions and Benefits

• The position requires working 78 hours over a fortnight, organized on a 14-day shift roster, which may include weekends, holidays, nights, split shifts, and sleep-in duties.
• Annual leave entitlement is 23 days per year, prorated for part-time roles.
• Compensation follows Department of Health scales as of June 1, 2026, ranging from €34,881 to €47,624 annually (pro-rated for part-time), with additional increments after three years and extra payments for weekend, holiday, night, and sleep-in work.
• Positions are pensionable and have a nine-month probation period, which may be extended at the employer’s discretion.
