About the Role
Churches of Christ in Queensland is seeking a full-time Support Worker based in Mackay to join our Children, Youth & Families team. This position supports children and young people in care, fostering their growth and well-being within nurturing and secure environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct care and organize activities according to individual care plans.
- Exemplify positive behaviors and implement age-appropriate techniques.
- Communicate regularly regarding the progress and wellbeing of children and youth under care.
- Transport young people safely to scheduled and unexpected events.
- Maintain detailed and confidential documentation adhering to organizational guidelines.
- Deliver culturally sensitive services with a focus on supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Qualifications and Experience
- Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention or Certificate III in Community Services, or possess comparable experience.
- Valid driver’s license (minimum P2) is mandatory.
- Experience working with youth, families, and knowledge of challenges faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Strong skills in relationship development and positive role modeling.
- Familiarity with Child Protection and Domestic & Family Violence legislation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Mandatory Compliance Requirements
- Obtain and maintain a National Police Check.
- Possess a Working with Children (Blue Card) clearance.
- Licensed Care Service (Child Protection) certification or willingness to acquire one before starting.
