About Corlann – West Region

Corlann – West Region delivers community-centered, person-focused services aimed at supporting children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Work Location and Role Description

The roles are based at Clarin Adult Services in Clarinbridge, County Galway, with staff allocated to either residential or day program settings. Initial placement will be in a specific area but may change depending on service demands. Support Workers assist individuals in daily living activities, promoting independence and skill development. Key duties include personal care, meal preparation, household chores, and facilitating engagement in community life through creative and inclusive methods.

Reporting Structure

Support Workers report to Social Care Workers, Staff Nurses, Team Leaders, or Team Managers depending on their work location.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Applicants should have a solid general education background.
  • Possession of a recognized qualification in intellectual disability support or completion of a FETAC level 5 or QQI Level 5 course is advantageous.
  • A full clean manual driving license valid for manual transmission vehicles in Ireland is mandatory.
  • Obtaining a Class D1 driving license may be required, with assistance provided for qualification.
  • Experience with individuals with intellectual disabilities, autism, complex needs, behaviors of concern, or physical disabilities is preferred but not essential, as training will be provided.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and proficiency with IT skills are required.

Working Hours

  • Five permanent full-time positions requiring 78 hours over a fortnight.
  • One specified-purpose part-time position requiring 64 hours over a fortnight.
  • Residential posts follow a 14-day duty roster including evenings, weekends, occasional split shifts, sleep-ins, and night duties as service needs demand.
  • Day service posts operate on a five-day schedule from 8am to 8pm.
  • Corlann expects flexibility in work hours to meet personalized outcome measures.

Leave and Remuneration

  • Annual leave entitlement is 23 days per year, pro-rata for part-time staff (equivalent to 8.46 hours per 100 hours worked).
  • Salary follows Department of Health scales effective from 01/06/2026, ranging from €34,881 to €47,624 pro-rated annually for a 39-hour week.
  • Long Service Increment of €48,434 pro-rata applies after three years at the maximum scale.
  • Additional payments are made for weekend, public holiday, sleepover, and night duty work.
  • Incremental credit for prior public sector service may be granted upon verification.

Employment Tenure and Probation

  • Five full-time permanent pensionable positions available.
  • One temporary part-time pensionable position available.
  • Appointment is subject to a nine-month probationary period which may be extended; termination during probation is possible if suitability is not met.
