Job description
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Supply Chain Planning Manager with a background in highly regulated manufacturing to lead inventory planning and supply chain activities. This role offers a clear succession path and requires proven experience in managing change within supply chain environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and oversee inventory planning processes aligned with supply chain management and broader company objectives.
- Maximize use of ERP planning logic and SAP system features.
- Establish a formal inventory budgeting methodology for managing working capital investment.
- Collaborate closely with SAP SCM development teams to enhance system capabilities.
- Lead and mentor a team of planning professionals.
- Track and analyse inventory key performance indicators to drive improvements.
- Implement systems and tools aimed at optimizing inventory levels.
- Manage risks related to inventory management.
- Lead comprehensive supply planning activities including balancing demand and supply, rough cut capacity planning, and scenario modeling.
- Own and coordinate the Supply Planning aspect of Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) and Integrated Business Planning (IBP) processes, ensuring alignment between customer demand, manufacturing capacity, and supplier availability.
- Formulate and maintain supply chain and inventory strategies to optimize customer service, working capital, and operational efficiency.
- Drive supply chain risk management by planning for supplier continuity, assessing capacity constraints, geopolitical risks, and mitigating material shortages.
- Work in partnership with Strategic Procurement to enhance supplier performance, reduce lead times, and identify inventory optimization opportunities.
- Lead supply chain transformation initiatives focusing on digitization, automation, improvement of planning systems, and standardizing processes.
- Develop inventory segmentation strategies for raw materials, work-in-progress, finished goods, and spare parts.
- Create executive-level reports and analytics that support data-driven decision making at the leadership level.
- Ensure readiness of the supply chain for new product introduction, product lifecycle management, and phased product discontinuation.
- Drive cross-functional projects aimed at cost reduction, service enhancement, inventory optimization, and operational excellence.
- Support internal and external audits ensuring adherence to quality, regulatory, and inventory governance standards.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree (QQI Level 8) in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related fields.
- Certifications such as APICS CPIM, IBF, or IIPMM are desirable.
- Six Sigma certification is an advantage.
- Additional qualifications in Data Analytics, Business Intelligence or Digital Supply Chain are a plus.
- At least 8 years of progressive experience in supply chain planning, inventory management, supply planning or integrated business planning in a manufacturing setting.
- Proven experience leading S&OP and IBP processes.
- Experience managing multi-million Euro inventory and working capital portfolios.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing, procurement, logistics, inventory control, and supply planning disciplines.
- Track record of implementing planning systems and ERP improvements, along with supply chain transformation programs.
- Experience working in highly regulated manufacturing environments.
- Advanced expertise in SAP planning modules including MRP, supply planning, and inventory optimization functionalities.
- Strong capabilities in Power BI, data visualization, and analytics.
- Demonstrated leadership in people management and change management initiatives.
