Job description
Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Supervising Pharmacist to join our team at Hickeys Ballincollig Pharmacy in Cork. This position requires commitment to maintaining professional standards and statutory compliance in a busy community pharmacy setting.
Working Hours and Team Composition
This position is specified for 36 hours per week. The pharmacy operates on the following schedule: Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The current team includes a Store Manager, Assistant Store Manager, Support Pharmacist, Relief Pharmacist, and three pharmacy technicians.
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with all statutory regulations related to pharmaceutical product supply according to the Pharmacy Act 2007.
- Maintain professional standards within the community pharmacy environment.
- Participate in health promotion initiatives and implement pharmaceutical care programs.
- Engage in continuing education to advance professional development.
- Adhere strictly to company policies, procedures, and standard operating protocols.
- Manage stock control efficiently including proper receipt and documentation of goods and services.
- Safeguard pharmacy stock, property, keys, and ensure safety of staff and customers in partnership with the pharmacy manager.
- Ensure workplace health and safety compliance and oversee staff adherence to regulations.
- Protect confidentiality of business information as per company guidelines.
- Ensure proper processing and monthly reconciliation of Department of Health schemes such as DPS, LTI, and GMS.
- Support the pharmacy manager in maintaining retail standards including category management, merchandising, and stock control.
- Stay informed about legislative changes and updates from the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI).
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Membership in the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland with a minimum of three years post-registration pharmacy experience.
- Preferably 1-2 years' experience in a Supervising Pharmacist role.
- Exceptional attention to detail with strong organizational skills capable of managing multiple concurrent tasks.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership capabilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
